Ergonomic Assessments


Ergonomics (or human factors) is the scientific discipline concerned with the understanding of interactions among humans and other elements of a system, and the profession that applies theory, principles, data and methods to design in order to optimize human well-being and overall system performance.

Ergonomic Assessments may be conducted as a stand-alone assessment or in conjunction with providing return to work support.

The assessment is conducted at the work site. It includes an analysis of the worker’s workstation(s), the worker’s technique, and the job demands to identify potential ergonomic risk factors, barriers to return to work, followed by education and recommendations designed to improve workstation fit and promote return to work and / or employee function. Recommendations may include education on injury prevention for the worker, identification of ergonomic equipment and/or changes in the setup of the workstation.
